The Scarborough Indoor Market: Scarborough Market Hall

A favourite spot of mine. The market has fabulous stalls to pick up all your groceries, a local butcher, fresh sea food, fabulous fruit and veg and also a bakery, where you can pick up freshly baked bread, savouries and sweets. There are also cafes, restaurants, and a deli serving breakfasts and lunches.

The market also has many locally run shops where you can enjoy a browse around. One of my favourites is Preen, go upstairs to the mezzanine level. Preen has an array of gifts, beauty, clothes and bags. You can’t leave with out finding something to buy. Pat will also provide a bit of a pamper with a host of beauty treatments on offer.

The North Bay has been awarded with Blue Flag status meaning it’s one of the best in Europe!

Popular for rock pooling at low tide, or stand up paddle boarding and surfing at high tide.

Or for a more relaxed experience you can hire one of the colourful beach huts.

The beach huts provide running water, a kettle, and deck chairs, ideal for sunbathing, relaxing and enjoying the views.

Keep walking north to the end of beach towards the Sea Life Centre, here you will arrive at The Old Scalby Mills Pub, a lovely place with indoor or outdoor seating, a sunny spot under the cliffs to enjoy an afternoon drink or bite to eat.

Fabulous local restaurant situated in the North bay, serving breakfast, lunch and open for dinner at the weekends.

Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre was built in the 1930’s.

The theatre underwent a major refurbishment and on 20 May 2010, the newly refurbished Scarborough Open Air Theatre was officially opened by The Queen of the United Kingdom accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh.

Since its official re-opening, the Scarborough OAT has played host to some of the music industry’s biggest stars, including Elton John, Britney Spears, Gary Barlow, Kylie, Noel Gallagher, Lionel Richie, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Biffy Clyro, Little Mix, Lewis Capaldi and many more. Check out the dates on their website to see who is playing in the summer months.

In our opinion, the best chippy in Scarborough. All fish cooked to order. Conveniently located round the corner from 2 of our apartments. There’s always a queue but worth the wait!

Fun for families – The little train will take you from North Bay along to The Sea Life Centre, an enjoyable trip with views of the beach.

Now more than just a railway, you can also explore the Sky Trail, thrill on the historic Water Chute, face the challenge of the Water Balls or take things more leisurely on the boating lake.

This attraction is family  and dog friendly, accessible for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Kylie even did a rendition of the Locomotion on this train with her dancers when she was exploring the area. It’s true, google it!!
