Bareca at The Bike and Boot
Bareca has to be my top pick, as it really has everything. It has a smart and sophisticated atmosphere without feeling pretentious or exclusive. You can prop up the bar or slip away to one of their comfy lounges. Bareca boasts an extensive menu, with tasty food and drink. If you’re looking for a pulled pint, Bareca may not be for you – however, their delicious cocktails are sure to secure them on the naughty list!
Craft
Calling all lovers of craft beer and cider – your new favourite place to drink is located on Northway, opposite the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Craft regularly runs events and music nights (including a quiz every Wednesday) but on a quiet night, Craft has the lovely laid-back feel of your friend’s sitting room, complete with a stack of board games on the shelf.
The Merchant
The Merchant is an old favourite among locals in Scarborough. Located halfway down Eastborough, this charming pub feels classically old-school. They host regular live music and open mic nights and you’re sure to meet some local characters propping up the bar. The tables are quite small, so it’s better suited for smaller groups.
The Jam Jar
If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll want to pop by The Jam Jar for a cocktail! They have a range of delicious dessert-inspired martinis as well as your old favourites. They also offer enormous and beautifully arranged charcuterie boards for large groups (booking ahead is essential for food).

Eat Me @ The Stephen Joseph Theatre
Is it really Christmas without Panto? This year’s pantomime at The SJT is Cinderella, though it’s not at all the story you remember… Hilarious and fun for both kids and kids at heart. At Eat Me in the bar, you can enjoy a range of Christmas-inspired cocktails, mulled wine, and mince pies (as well as an extensive menu of delicious food.)
