Raincliffe Woods

Visit Raincliffe Woods

Scarborough has been ranked ‘The greenest town in Yorkshire’ according to a recent study. We’re blessed to have access to large expanses of green space so close by. There are many areas of natural beauty to visit in and around the area – but perhaps best loved by locals is Raincliffe Woods.

This isn’t just a destination for dog walkers, there’s Throxenby Mere for keen anglers, there are trails for walkers and mountain bikers, and (if you know what you’re doing) there are mushrooms for foraging!

Aside from a stunning 222 hectares of ancient woodland to explore, Raincliffe is now managed by The Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise and hosts lots of fun and educational events for adults and kids.

The Community Enterprise is working hard to champion sustainability and invite guest speakers to deliver talks and workshops both in the woods and online.

Research shows that spending time in nature has a positive impact on our mental health. Whether you are visiting Scarborough for work or pleasure, take an afternoon to lose track of time in beautiful Raincliffe.
